A female member of the 13th National Committee of the recently put forward proposals on the reform of medical care to improve living standards.
Ma Xiuzhen, who is also Vice Chairperson of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPPCC, said "If I am allowed to use one word to summarize the government work report, which State Council Premier Li Keqiang made on March 5, it would be ‘reform’.
”This includes the reform of the government, economy, ecological environment and social undertakings.
"One of this year's most significant reforms should be tackling the difficulties in medical care. It is important to coordinate the reform of medical costs, wages, circulation and the payment systems," added Ma.
Ma thinks that officials should handle basic and non-essential medical care properly, and establish a quality and efficient medical service system at the same time.
She proposed that officials should solve the problem of low salaries to arouse the enthusiasm of medical staff, and form an atmosphere of showing respect to medical staff in the whole society.
"With the development of living standards, health and medical treatment needs a better guarantee. To increase financial subsidies is one way to achieve this goal," Ma explained.
