The first session of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) kicked off at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on March 3.

Before it opened, 11 committee members – including six women – showed up for an interview session with the media.

The six female members were:

Zhao Hongwei, Chief Engineer of China Academy of Railway Sciences

Zhou Ye, Principal of Beijing Dongcheng District Special School, and a sign language interpreter for the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC)

Zhang Min, leader of a teaching and research group at the Vocational High School in Mengla County, southwest China's Yunnan Province

Lü Zhongmei, CPPCC member and member of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party

Yang Yang, Chairperson of the Sports Committee of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and Winter Paralympic Games

Zhang Kaili, an actress from the National Theatre Company of China
